While I was in Rome Italy I was invited to attend a conference that consisted of citizens, politicians and activists. We discussed the importance of art (hip hop) for the young and old alike as well as for prisoners. We also spoke on the death penalty.
The politicians and Representatives of Hands Off Cain a powerful organization based in Rome that fights against capitol punishment announced that on September 24Th at the General assembly meeting at the United Nations in New York they would present a petition calling for a vote on a resolution calling for a world wide moratorium on the death penalty.
Upon returning to the U.S. I planned to march to the U.N. in a show of support to the Italian politicians standing up and taking action against this barbaric act.
On the morning of September 24Th joined by just three comrades we rolled on the United Nations.

Big ups to Therepist, ENKI, and UnaBeats.

From the Front Lines, that's the name I picked for my upcoming Internet TV show to air on onloq.com soon. The name fits better than one might think. Sure it fits because I am taking the viewer to the very front lines of the battle for human rights, justice and true freedom. I also take the viewer to the front lines of the struggle inside our prisons. We also go to the front lines of the struggle to preserve true hip hop. For me though the term From the Front Lines goes a bit deeper. See the footage you will be viewing is my life, I take you to the front lines of the struggle I go through trying to make it in the free world as an ex-convict.
I have to face facts, being Latino alone increased my chances of going to prison from birth. Now that I am an ex-convicted felon, my chances of re-arrest are very high even not committing criminal acts just for being. In other words I'm a fucking long shot to make it in society. Have to say though, I have been having a pretty good run this time around as far as staying out of prison.
I was last released from prison 6 years ago in 2001. Yea spent the turning of the millennium locked in a cage. Anyway since I was 17 years old 6 years is the longest I have ever been on the streets in one stretch. Within those 6 years, I am sure that about 90% of those released from prison on the same day as me, have all returned. So what's my strategy? You'll have to stick around to see it in it's entirety. It's a combination of things that have kept me going in a game that was set up for me to lose. The game of life.
So in truth, From the Front Lines is my life and all the people I am meeting on my quest in search for justice and true freedom. Though I have been out of the cage for 6 years now, the effects of confinement and dehumanization are still very powerful within me. Even conscious to the programing prisoners are subjected to, I can not easily break free from it's grasp. For me it's a daily struggle out here just as it was in prison. It's not much different to me, except for the women and better food.
From the Frontlines is up and running right now but they are only showing a short film I created in December of 2006 called "Hip Hop Against All Violence". I will post a blog about this film when I get the chance. Actual episodes will be up an running in the very near future. I hope to see you all---on the mutha fuckin FRONTLINES! "X"
